Some Things Not to Expect

Sorry to start with the negatives. Some long flights have disposable diapers, powdered milk, special kids' toys, packets of tissues and other goodies available. Most do not have these things available. Bring along what you know you'll need and consider it good fortune if the plane does have some items to supplement what you brought aboard yourself.

You've got good kids. In all fairness and modesty, so do we. However, with younger children, it is unreasonable to expect them to feed themselves and get to the toilet on an airplane without at least some help.

Place this in the “can't hurt, might help” category. After a certain period of time seated anywhere, boredom and wigglingness will creep in. Being well-armed against these dark forces can make a long flight seem, well, less long. 52 Fun Things to Do on the Plane
