Singapore Hotels
There are a gazillion hotels all over Singapore, in every price range. You can stay at the historic Raffles Hotel or the Shangri-La
for US$400 a night if you like escargot, or in a backpacker's guest house for $6 a night if you prefer bed bugs. There are plenty of hotels in between.
Most hotels are located right on Orchard Road, and are thus very convenient to everything and may be worth the price to your family. Keep in mind that like at the beach, going a block off the surf line can save you a bunch of money-two blocks off Orchard Road the same level of hotel room will likely be 10-20% cheaper, so shop around.
People always write and ask where we stayed in Singapore. We stayed at the Elizabeth Hotel and liked it very much. We paid for our own room and they did not know we would be writing a review. The place was about a five minute walk off Orchard Road, very quiet and relaxed, with a small pool and friendly staff. Most rates included a buffet breakfast.
