Some Things to See and Do: Thai National Museum

A moderate walk or a short tuk-tuk/taxi ride from the National Palace, this is worth a visit primarily if you have an interest in Thai art or history and some background in the same. It is also indoors and nicely air conditioned, and stroller friendly with clean toilets for those who are less culturally-empowered. There is also, just outside, a small store and a nice ice cream shop.

Kids might enjoy the history portion of the museum best, as it has lots of models and armor and war elephants to look at. Descriptions with each exhibit describe the scene show, but do not give much broader information on Thai history, leaving those without a sense of its flow a bit unsure what they are looking at. We would have enjoyed things more having read a bit about Thailand's past before visiting the museum.
